Efsaneler (2008)

Can Atilla was born in Ankara in 1969. In 1980, he started to attend the violin class of Hacettepe University, Ankara State Conservatory, and graduated with BA degree in 1990. In Turkey, he articipated in numerous competition, festival and music organizations as composer, arranger and conductor. His debut solo album, "Bilinçaltı" was released in 1992 and his second solo album, "Waves of Wheels" was released in 1994 in Turkey, and in United Kingdom and Europe by Midas Records Ltd. In 1995, his third solo album, "Efsaneler", and in 1996, the symphonic album version of the play score, "Kuvayi Milliye Destanı", were released. With this work, he was awarded "Avni Dilligil Best Original Play Score". In 1999, his album "AVE" was released in the Netherlands by Eat Records. In 1997, he prepared the original scores of the movie "Bir Erkeğin Anatomisi", a film by Yavuz Ozkan. For Ankara State Theatre, he prepared the original play scores of the plays "Büyük Misafir" in 1996, "4. Murat" in 1997, "Kanli Dugun", "Ya Devlet Basa Ya Kuzgun Lese" and "Liola" in 1998, "Goya", "Balerin", "Ask Oldurur" and "Kanaviçe" in 1999, and "Tanrılar Erkek Olunca", "Abelard ve Heloise" and "Andora" in 2000. He has prepared
numerous scores within a period of more than ten years for the dramas and documentaries made for television channels, and currently continues to prepare.His essays were published in many art periodicals under the title "Visual Music". At the beginning of 1999, he made a contract with "Eat Records" in the Netherlands, and efforts for releasing his albums world-wide were commenced. Within the same year, he released his soundtrack album "ALBATROS" in Turkey. He prepared the scores of the film "Kuruluş - Osmancık", which was re-edited as a movie for the 700th anniversary of the Ottoman Empire from the TRT television series directed by Yücel Cakmakli. The scores of this movie was prepared, for the first time in Turkey, using "Multitrack Orchestral Dubbing" method, a method used for recording movie scores in Hollywood and Europe. For this method, in which electronic instruments are combined with actual instruments, a mixed orchestra was formed for the live recordings and this orchestra was conducted by Can Atilla. Can Atilla currently continues his works with many young musicians at POeM Music, his studio in Ankara.

Ezt elmesélem...
Kedves barátom egy dicsérő e-mail-t kapott Syndromeda-tól. Nem is tudom szeressem-e ezért, vagy irigykedjek, de maradok az első variációnál, mert mindenképpen elismerés, amit Ő kapott. Igaz, a BS fórumon sokan tudják Syndromeda imádó vagyok, és így kicsit picit érzelmeim is éledeznek, és kapzsi módon arra gondolok, miért is nem én? De mit tettem ennek az ügynek az érdekében? Semmit.

Mostanában sokat emlegetjük Klaus Schulze remekét. Ha már elkalandoztam, akkor most soron kívűl szúrom be számomra két kedves albumát. Nem véletlenül, hiszen a Nagy kedvenc mellett ott a Favorit Tiepold, aki úgy szólaltatja meg hangszerét, ahogy szinte senki más. Olyan harmonikusan tud a klasszikus hangszer a modern elektromos szintetizátorokkal együttműködni, ami akárhányszor is meghallgatom, lenyűgöz.

And love of progressive rock in all its forms was a direct result of this “new found” freedom.

Case in point, this CD. Albert Khalmurzayev, “Al-Bird”, as he likes to be called, has been making music for some time. Hailing from Uzbekistan in the former Soviet Union, he along with several others have put together certainly some of the most exciting progressive rock music to come our way in some time. Following in the lead of bands like Solaris, these guys have put together a marvelous symphonic classic in this CD. And you should check out their web site, www.progressor.net to get a fresh look at this music we love. Frankly, I can’t wait to check out Al-Bird’s other project, X Religion, after hearing this one.

As the title points out, this is a musical interpretation of the Biblical Old Testament story of the rise and fall of Sodom & Gomorra. One long 49 minute plus song. You cannot jump from track to track. A solid listen is required for sure.

The music is a wonderful mix of classical, symphonic, religious, secular, pop, jazz, et al. It moves clearly and logically from Part I through Part IV. This is all instrumental music with small vocalizing (Al-Bird’s term) parts, samples from various sources, Gregorian styled chants at times, wonderful keyboard passages and melodic soothing guitar work.

A moszkvai Novogyevicsi temetőben van eltemetve. Fia, Maxim zongorista és karmester. Apja számos művét neki ajánlotta, és ő mutatta be a zeneszerző egyes alkotásait. "

Mágikus mise Leonard Bernsteintől

"A Jackie Kennedy felkérésére 1971-ben komponált Bernstein-mise a washingtoni Kennedy Center avató ünnepségén szólalt meg először. A szerző életművében egyedülálló katolikus egyházi mű nemcsak zenéjének, de a köré komponált "performansznak" is köszönheti sikerét.

A Főpap irányítja a szertartást, egy vegyeskar énekel latin nyelvű miserészeket, az úgynevezett utcai énekesek alkotják a gyülekezetet, akik női- illetve férfikarba csoportosulva imát mondanak, egy fiúkórus hol önállóan szólaltat meg antifónát, hol pedig koncertál a vegyeskarral és az utcai énekesekkel. A ministránsok segédkeznek a Főpapnak és különböző koreográfiákat jelenítenek meg a mise alatt. "
